Singapore embraces contemporary dance to an all new scale, following a successful da:ns festival with outstanding performances from local choreographers and international dance artists. T.H.E Dance Company presents M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival 2015 – a refreshing look into contemporary dance works from around the globe, furnished with jewels of contemporary dance in this dance program, not to be missed.
M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival 2015 T.H.E Dance Company – Triple Bill
(Works by Kuik Swee Boon, Iratxe Ansa & Jecko Siompo)
Kuik Swee Boon reworks Pellucid for T.H.E. Dance Company originally choreographed for Singapore Dance Theatre in 2008 – a rare chance to revisit and old dance work with a new cast of dance artists – enveloping simplicity and beauty and stripped to its bare bones.
In addition Jecko Siompo creates a new work on the company, the very first collaboration with a Southeast Asian choreographer outside Singapore; this piece hybridizes Indonesia ethnic dance, contemporary influences and most evidently a kinetic fusion of his native tribal Papuan dance culture and hip-pop.
Performances from the 3rd to the 5th of December at The Esplanade – Theatre Studio.

A showcase of local talent– highlighting the multicultural roots and versatile developments of Singapore’s dance scene, featuring works by Singapore Dance Theatre, T.H.E Dance Company, Frontier Danceland, Re: Dance Theatre, Chowk, Daniel K, Chiew Peishan, Shahrin Johry, Sufri Juwahir and Jereh Leung.
Performances on 26th & 27th of November at 8 pm with a new program for each night, so get yourself tickets for both performances at Singapore Airlines Theatre -LASALLE College of the Arts

Seoul Dance Collection x T.H.E Second Company. Yokohama Dance Collection x T.H.E. Second Company. Yokohama Dance Collection x DPAC Dance Company
3 brand new creations – resulting from cross collaborations between the most dynamic dance cultures in Asia. AFE makes an investment on the most current practices of contemporary dance – collaboration. Goh Shou-Yi collaborates with Kim Hwan-Hee in South Korea, Mikiko Kawamura inflicts her youthful street dance style in a new commission for T.H.E Second Company. Finally, performances by Damansara Performing Arts Centre Dance Company, Malaysian choreographer Amy Len creates a new dance piece in collaboration with Naoto Katoru from Japan.

An opportunity to dive into the practices of contemporary dance with international and local dance artists. The festival offers a wide range of contemporary dance classes, from improvisation to release technique. Step outside the box to learn dance from this fantastic selection of artists; Victoria Columbus, Anna Smith, Kim Hwan Hee, Kuik Swee Boon, Jens Bjerregaard, Mikiko Kawamura, Daniel Rojas, Neil Ieremia, Naoto Katori, Wong Jyh Shyong, Neil Ieremia, Iratxe Ansa, Anouk Van Dijk, Hong Kyung Hwa, Kevin Polak & Ning Xi and Yu Hosik

M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival 2015 International Artists Showcase
Iratxe Ansa performs the sound of the body in stillness – former dancer with Nederlands Dance Theatre whilst Chunky Move from Australia presents gentle is the power by Anouk van Dijk. From Korea, we are invited to witness Kim Dong-kyu from R.se Dance company exploring Perfect Idea, captivated by the fickleness and inconstancy of human behaviour.
Performances on the 12th of December at 3pm & 8pm at The Esplanade – Theatre Studio.
